A few things
you might ask.
Still wondering about something?
Just ask
Do I need to bring my computer somewhere?
No. SplitFin offers home visits and remote support. There is no shop or drop-off service. The registered office at Pennyfold is not a customer drop-off address.
How does remote support work?
A session is arranged with you on a computer that starts and has a working internet connection. You stay at your own desk and can watch the screen. Access and how to end the session are discussed before starting.
Will I know the price before the work starts?
Yes. The work and price are agreed before starting. Extra time, additional work and replacement parts need your agreement. Diagnosis is £35 and is credited against an approved repair.
What if it cannot be repaired?
No fix, no fee. If I can’t fix the problem, you pay nothing: no diagnosis charge and no visit charge. If it can be fixed but you decide not to go ahead, the £35 diagnosis applies. Data recovery cannot always succeed, and it is covered by the same rule.
Should I back up my files first?
If possible, back up important files before work starts. If your computer will not start or the drive seems to be failing, explain that first and discuss the next step. Mention any especially important files in your enquiry, without sending the files themselves.
How long will the repair take?
It depends on the fault and whether parts are needed. The likely work and next steps are discussed after hearing the symptoms or assessing the machine. Get in touch to discuss your particular problem.
Do I need to know what is wrong?
Not at all. “It keeps freezing” or “the screen stays black” is a useful starting point. Mention your computer model if you know it, and describe what happens when you try to use it.
Let’s take a look.
